Most automation projects in grain handling fail for one of two reasons. Either they are too small and become another island, or they are too large and have to be justified all at once. A modular architecture removes that choice: CORE gives you a complete process control system, and each further module is a decision you can take in a different year, on its own business case.

Start where it hurts most

There is no single correct entry point. A facility that lost a silo of maize to a hot spot last August should start with STORAGE. One that pays a gas bill it cannot explain should start with DRYER. One whose control cabinet is three generations of equipment from four suppliers should start with CORE and LINK.

What matters is that the first module is not a dead end. Every BonOS module writes into the same database and appears on the same dashboard, so the second one costs less than the first, not more.

One unified database

The platform's real asset is not any individual module — it is that every process variable ends up in one place with a timestamp. Grain temperature from STORAGE, batch records from DRYER, weighbridge tonnages through LINK, drive currents from CORE.

That is what turns monitoring into optimisation. A single measurement tells you what is happening now. Three seasons of measurements in one database tell you which settings actually cost the least per tonne — and that is where the money is.

Built on industrial hardware

BonOS runs on proven industrial PLC and HMI platforms, integrated over open industrial communication standards. That is a deliberate choice with a cost: it is less convenient than a closed appliance, and it takes longer to specify.

It buys two things that matter over a twenty-year facility life. Spare parts you can source from more than one supplier, and a system that a competent automation engineer can service without the original builder present.
